Questionaire: Scarlet edition

I have wanted to get to know my characters better, so I decided to look for a good questionaire, and I found a lot of great ones, but this one seemed perfect. I've removed a few of the questions, becuase I didn't care about them, but if you're interested the questionaire is here.
Scarlet was my first "victim". :)

How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?

Scarlet wanted to love or even like her father, but instead, all the way from when she was adopted, she was afraid of him. Even before he started drinking he had temper problems, and Scarlet learned how to avoid him. She knew, she should have been grateful for being adopted, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that he was dangerous to trust.
As she got older and Jack got more abusive, she started to hate him and secretly wished for him to die.
Thanks to her, now forgotten, experiences, she had next to no trust in adults, and Jack didn't won it either.

Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?

Scarlet had a better feeling about her mother, Kate. She felt like Kate had better intentions than Jack and she trusted her a bit more, however Scarlet do have issues and couldn't make herself love or trust her completely.
However, a lot of the things that went good in Scarlet's life was due to Kate. Kate made sure Scarlet attended school, made her home-work, got healthy meals and was able to remain a child as much as possible given Scarlet's past and the problems with Jack.

Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do they despise about their siblings?

Scarlet first got to know Hunter. Back then she wouldn't even talk, but Hunter attempted to break her walls and he got through to her. She bonded closer to Hunter than anyone else in her life, both then and now. At the same time she hates Hunter, when he tries to control her life.
Then Adam was born, and Scarlet liked him. He was a baby, thus defenseless, so Scarlet felt safe with him. As Adam grew up to be a gentle and loving boy, Scarlet's love stayed intact.
Later Annabelle moved in, and Scarlet felt this new sister was much more relatable than her brothers.

What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient?

Strict. Even though Jack had his tender moments, he was a disiplinary man and he expected full obedience. He was inclined to corporal punishments, and added to his temper problems, Scarlet grew deadly afraid of him. Kate, however, had a completely different approach, but she wasn't in charge in the family.

Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered?

Did they feel rejection or affection as a child?

Scarlet felt very rejected. She never really felt wanted or love. And definitely never felt safe in her home.

What was the economic status of their family?

How does your character feel about religion?

Religion never played a big role in Scarlet's life.

Is your character street-smart, book-smart, intelligent, intellectual, slow-witted?

Definitely street-smart. Scarlet is pretty intelligent, but never really cared much about school. She thought it was useless, because she was unintelligent and a failure no matter what, so she isn't very educated.

How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?

How does their education and intelligence – or lack thereof - reflect in their speech pattern, vocabulary, and pronunciations?

Scarlet doesn't know a lot of fancy words, but she picks up pretty quickly, so her vocabulary is bigger than you would think at first.

Did they like school? Teachers? Schoolmates?

She found it pointless. She never believed she could get anywhere in life anyway.

Were they involved at school? Sports? Clubs? Debate? Were they unconnected?

Completely unconnected.

Did they graduate? High-School? College? Do they have a PHD? A GED?

Scarlet is a high school drop-out..

What does your character do for a living? How do they see their profession? What do they like about it? Dislike?

She hasn't travelled.

What did they find abroad, and what did they remember?

Scarlet once had a hope that she would grow up and the pain would go away, and she could have a good life.

What are your character’s manners like? What is their type of hero? Whom do they hate?

Scarlet has very little social skills and is bad at reading a situation, so she can come off a rude, but in boils down to the emotional and physical abuse she suffered during her childhood.
Her type of hero is people who seem to have "the perfect life", but at the same time she hates them.

Who are their friends? Lovers? ‘Type’ or 'ideal’ partner?

Scarlet's nearest friends are Hunter, Tahir; Donna and Damian. She has been friends with them since way back and these are the people Scarlet feel most safe with. She generally doesn't feel safe, ever, but she still feels they are the people with whom she can relax a bit.
Her lover is Julian and he is at the same time her good friend. She can laugh and have a good time with him, but she doesn't feel the need to date him.
She doesn't have an "ideal" type of partner, because she generally doesn't trust men enough to date them.

What do they want from a partner? What do they think and feel of sex?

She doesn't want a partner.
Scarlet likes sex, because it makes her feel useful, but at the same time a lot of men have made her feel worthless for exactly that reason.

Most of the time she'll come off as a happy and social woman, and she seems likable.

What are their hobbies and interests?

Kate taught Scarlet to cook, and Scarlet took a liking to it. She's also always enjoyed to dance, and had a slight dream of becoming a dancer. Because of her restlessness, she'll redecorate her home over and over.

What does your character’s home look like? Personal taste? Clothing? Hair? Appearance?

Scarlet has a humble flat. She rented something small and simple, because she felt like that would do. She likes to decorate the flat and has a lot of ornaments. She likes dresses and heels, and spends a lot of time dying her hair. Her nails are often painted in different colors and she likes to wear make-up.

How do they relate to their appearance? How do they wear their clothing? Style? Quality?

She spends a lot of money on her appearance, which she feels like her self-esteem is linked to. It's always stylish and great quality.

Who is your character’s mate? How do they relate to him or her? How did they make their choice?

Scarlet doesn't have a boyfriend, instead she has a friend with benefits. Julian and her has been seeing each other for a couple of years, and while he is yearning for more, Scarlet has no wish to being involved in a relationship. She doesn't wish to hurt him either, but she loves him and wants his company.

What is your character’s weaknesses? Hubris? Pride? Controlling?

Scarlet's pride is linked to her self-esteem. She wants to show the world she's good enough, but will easily feel unworthy.

Scarlet's past is haunting her, even the parts she doesn't remember. She has never forgiven Jack.

No, and she doensn't want kids. She likes her niece Audrey, but she's afraid of hurting a child, like she herself has been hurt.

How does your character react to stress situations? Defensively? Aggressively? Evasively?

Definitely aggressively.

Do they drink? Take drugs? What about their health?

Yes and yes. Scarlet has tried for years to drown her pain in alchohol and drugs. She's addicted to coccaine, but her health hasn't suffered too much yet.

Does your character feel self-righteous? Revengeful? Contemptuous?

Do they always rationalize errors? How do they accept disasters and failures?

Scarlet sees failures as a result of herself being a failure.

Do they like to suffer? Like to see other people suffering?

Somewhat, she likes to suffer. She's never really tried anything else.

Scarlet has a lot of imagination, and has trouble sleeping thanks to vivid nightmares.

Are they basically negative when facing new things? Suspicious? Hostile? Scared? Enthusiastic?

Scarlet is always suspicious of new things, but she hides it well.

What do they like to ridicule? What do they find stupid?

Scarlet ridicules people worse off than herself. She finds them pathetic, because she finds herself pathefic.

How is their sense of humor? Do they have one?

Scarlet has a morbid kind of humour. She'll laugh at things, other people find disturbing or out-right wrong.

Is your character aware of who they are? Strengths? Weaknesses? Idiosyncrasies? Capable of self-irony?

Not really. She hates everything about herself, so she sees no strenghts, but instead lots of weaknesses. She will joke a lot about herself, often in a way that's cruel.

How badly do they want to obtain their life objectives? How do they pursue them?

Scarlet wants a peaceful, "normal" life, but she doesn't even try. She has given up.

Is your character pragmatic? Think first? Responsible? All action? A visionary? Passionate? Quixotic?

Mostly think first, though due to her little social skills she often can't read the situation and will do the wrong thing, even if it's obvious.

Is your character tall? Short? What about size? Weight? Posture? How do they feel about their physical body?

Scarlet is tall and chubby. She's 173cm tall or 68.11", and is 75kg or 165 pounds. Scarlet likes her body, but at the same time she feels distant from it.
