20 Questions Tag

I just stole this meme lol XD

1.How long have you been collecting?
I received my first BJD in January 2008. Before that I didn't collect any kinds of dolls at all.
I used to collect CDs and DVDs. I sold off all my music CDs, but I still have some of my DVDs, but most of them have been upgraded to Blu Ray.

2.What do you collect?
I only collect BJDs at the moment. I want to try other kinds of dolls, but I can't afford it at the moment, so I just enjoy other people's dolls.

3.How many dolls do you have?
I have 4 SDs, 3 YoSDs and two incoming SDs.

4.Which of your collections are you the most proud of? Why?
I'll have to say my BJDs, because I don't have any other, but if we seperate the BJDs into sizes, I'm a bit proud of my SDs. I think I have some okay pretty SD sized dolls, and I love them to bits. <3

5.Which single doll cost you the most money? (Relatively and literally)
I think it may be Isabelle (Iplehouse SID Marien in light brown skin). I got her with a custom Iplehouse face-up. But I also paid a good amount for Hannah (Iplehouse EID Jessica), I bought her second-hand, and she was $700, but to be fair, the seller included 4 extra pairs of hands and a bunch of extras, so in reality, she wasn't that expensive.

Isabelle

6.Which doll line is your favorite to collect and why?
I'm an SD fan. I love big dolls, and even within the SD range, I prefer the bigger dolls. I have two Iplehouse SIDs, an Iplehouse EID, a Feeple70 and a Dollshe Amanda, so all my girls are on the bigger side.
There's just something awesome, at least to me, with having a huge doll. I feel satisfied in a total different way than I do with my YoSDs, even though I love how cute and easy to transport they are.

7.What made you want to collect dolls?
I was drawn to the character element. I have always been a writer, so it felt natural to me. It's been trial and error to find out, what kind of characters worked for me, as dolls though.

8.Which is your most wanted doll right now?
I would say Dollshe Amanda, since I haven't paid her off yet, but if I should pick a doll,  I'm not waiting for, then none.

9.Which of your previously most wanted dolls do you have now?
I have been wanting Iplehouse Jessica and Eva ever since they were released. Same with Feeple65 Angela, whom I now have on a Feeple70 girl body. I fell deeply in love with the Volks YoSD four sisters, so Cody is a "most wanted" doll too.

10.What is the most dolls you have gotten at once?
Way too many. Honestly I have no idea. I have been a bit of a shopaholic the last couple of years, but I have definitely been waiting on 3-4 full dolls at once.

11.Which is your least favorite doll?
I think right now it may be David (IOS Anos) because he's still just a test. I'm not even sure I'm gonna keep him. I don't count him as a "least favorite character" at all though. I love David.

12.Which of your dolls has the best story (in your life and in theirs?)
In my life, I think the best story is how I got Isabelle.
When Marien was released I was thinking that she could be perfect for a character I have called "Annabelle". I was gonna hang out with Anne, and we started talking about the Marien release, since we're both Iplehouse fans. She wanted the outfit from Marien, and I loved the sculpt, and we talked about ordering together, but I didn't have the funds, so Anne offered to buy the doll, and I could pay her off instead. And that's the story about how lovely Anne, helped me get Isabelle <3

In the doll universe I have a -huge- weakness for David's story.

13.What do you do with your dolls?
I write about them and take photos. I don't really play with them a lot besides for when I take photos, maybe that's why I'm horrible at posing them? Haha.

14.Are there any other collections that you want to start?
I really want Dollfie Dreams. It's been something I have wanted to start collecting for a long while, but never gotten around to. Also thanks to Maria, I kinda want a Blythe.

15.Which of your dolls would you most like to be? Why?
Hmm, that's a hard question. If we just pretend my dolls were people, I would probably pick Hannah (Iplehouse EID Jessica), because she's gorgeous, and could pass as slightly androgynous, with the right face-up. But I wouldn't want to be an actual doll. Haha.

16.Do people know that you collect dolls/toys?
All my friends are in the doll hobby, so of course they know. My dad and his girlfriend knows too.

17.Does your family support your collection?
My dad is not against it, but he surely doesn't like the price tag. Haha. Luckily I'm 27, so he doens't get a say in how I spend my money.

18.What was your first doll/toy collection that you can remember? Do you still have them?
I have no clue what I collected as a kid, but I never collected dolls as a real hobby, until entering the BJD hobby. My first BJD was a B&G Sky called Tamaki. He had such an angsty and dramatic story, that I cringe just thinking about it XD

Tamaki

19.Which doll started each of your collections?
As mentioned Tamaki started my SD collection, for YoSDs my first was a Dollzone Ani, called Bailey, and she was such a tomboy.

20.What is your favorite place to shop for dolls?
I love Taobao. There's so many great shops for all kinds of things.

I don't know if I'm allowed to tag people, considering I wasn't even tagged myself, but I'm gonna do it anyway.
Maria & Michelle

It was so interesting to know and see your first SD here, wow Tamaki reminds me a lot of the old days in this hobby (when I stalked DoA and had no dolls haha).
So happy to see you have such nice friends in the hobby, that have helped you with getting dolls and things.

    1. Haha, good thing people were free to do it anyway ;)
Hahaha, it is indeed very 2008-ish, it was actually just back then I received him :P Ahh, the good old days!
I'm forever grateful that I got Isabelle, even though I thought I wouldn't be able to afford her TwT

  2. Yay, good that you stole it and did this tag!
There is so many beautiful bigger dolls, in SD-size, that I would love to own but my ”pain threshold” is somewhere around 45 cm. And that is still tiny. That is why I am a bit happy about some dolls coming out in a smaller size, as Lusion to Illua! It opens up a whole new world for me.
And Amanda is really a beautiful and even if she is tall, she is in someway delicate. Love the details and her red lips, if one orders her with make up.
Lovely that all your friends are in the doll hobby, makes it a lot easier to find someone to talk with and that do understand you in this hobby.
Blythe is something I would love to have too…! Soon I will need a own little house or a big room, as my hubby says, to put up my planned collections. Haha! :D

    1. Ýes! :D I love tags and memes and such.
I think it's different for everyone. One of my friends only collect dolls below 30cm, so it's so varied what kind of dolls people like to own. I don't want to go below Pukifee/Lati Yellow size, but some people love PukiPukis! Haha.
I ordered her blank, but I hope to have her painted soon after she's home. :3
Yes! I love that my friends are all interested in dolls! Haha.
I need a big house too, haha :P

  4. Hi Nikki,
It's interesting reading your answers. I always felt you were a big SD fan and admire that you can handle such big dolls. I only have one and the rest are tinies. Funny you should want a Blythe, I've just about sold all mine...they are great to make over though.
    Hugs,
    X
